Overview

Loughton Contracts were appointed by Willmott Dixon Interiors to supply and install the flooring for the Starwood Hotel, Warwick Road. The 167,378 sq. ft refurbishment comprised of extensive alterations to an existing building in Earl’s Court and created a mix of units across 10 floors.

This luxurious hotel, part of the Marriott chain, boasted 103 bedrooms, new kitchen and hi-tech gymnasium. The soft flooring package saw our team install Altro sheet vinyl to the back of house areas and a range of EGE carpet tiles.

The real feature of this project was the uniquely designed communal carpet. In conjunction with EPR Architects and WDI’s design team, manufacturer Brinton’s created a distinctive broadloom carpet that we installed over five floors in the Starwood’s communal corridors. Our specialist broadloom team had to carry out extremely accurate on site check measures which were critical in ensuring the perfect aesthetics of the finished carpet.

A total of 650 m2 of bespoke broadloom was installed to a very tight program with the communal spaces being at the tail end of the works, which is common with this type of project.

The nature of this carpet posed a challenge for our fitting team who needed a real eye for detail to produce the desired effect. The overall finish, completed on time, was stunning and exceeded all expectations. This project was a real credit to the skill and experience of our broadloom team.
