Loughton Contracts were appointed by Structure Tone, to supply and install all floor coverings for Ashurst, an international law firm who relocated their offices to the newly refurbished London Fruit & Wool Exchange in the heart of Spitalfields.
The design brief was to ensure the distinctly modern feel of the company was featured throughout while still exhibiting hints of the buildings Spitalfields roots. This was the largest legal fit-out in London at the time the project completed.
The project featured an engineered Oak plank floor by Havwoods throughout the reception corridors and client areas. The flooring was installed in different directions to help define spaces and walkways within the open spaces. Breakout areas also featured circular inlaid carpets to add a little softness and mirror the feature bulkhead above. Our timber installers also had to produce accurate cut outs for sunken floor lights to be installed to the perimeter of the carpet inlay.
A main feature of the new project was a bespoke Oak staircase linking the working floors. Our team of specialist timber fitters had to install hundreds of small anti-slip discs into each nosing with absolute accuracy to ensure safety standards were met with a thoroughly pleasing aesthetic.
Interface and JHS carpet tiles were installed to meeting rooms, training & conference rooms and office areas to aid with acoustics and portray a professional feel to the areas. The main conference room had a removeable wall through the middle and required a floor finish that was not only sophisticated in its appearance but ran seamlessly throughout. Carpet tiles from Modulyss were featured and worked perfectly in the space.
In the BOH areas and kitchen on Level 3 our specialist cladding team installed Altro Whiterock to the walls.
Delivering an installation of this size over 5 different floors required careful planning, with out of hours deliveries, road closures and a tight programme all creating a challenge for our project team.
