Kimpton Fitzroy London

Loughton Contracts were appointed by contractor, STC Group, to supply and install the flooring for The Kimpton Fitzroy London, originally known as Russell Hotel. The former grandiose hotel is 120 years old and boasts 334 guest rooms with four dining and drinking establishments.

Our team worked closely with the client to ensure that all the floor finishes were sympathetic to the 200-year-old building whilst achieving a contemporary feel with a young sophisticated touch. The floor finishes needed to be stylish but still conform to modern regulations.

The renovation of this hotel included the restoration of features designed by Charles Fitzroy Doll, the interior designer of the Titanic. The original plaster moulding’s and marble columns in the grand banqueting suite were complemented by the introduction of a bespoke carpet by Hammer Carpets. Our expert broadloom fitters installed the patterned carpet with flawless seams and exquisite border work.

More broadloom carpet by Alawood was installed to hotel bedrooms and Brinton’s broadloom to corridors, flowing out into reception lobbies and the original marble feature staircase. Working in partnership with C.A.T. we fabricated bespoke brass nosing’s encompassing an anti-slip, ribbed tread that was perfectly in keeping with the Grade II listed building. Each nosing was precision drilled and screwed to each marble step, with particular attention ensuring each screw lined up the ribbed inserts.

Back of House areas included vinyl flooring by Altro and Polyflor. The new resident’s fitness suite had rubber sports flooring by Dalhaus. The gym flooring neatly interlocked to provide a safe and practical floor covering.

The Kimpton Fitzroy London is just one of many residential projects we have successfully completed. Why not check out some of our other projects.
